The Cesena Riviera breathes a sigh of relief: "Hotels and beaches are full, positive signs for the whole of August."

Cesena, August 15, 2025 – In a subdued summer, where so far very few people are smiling, the week of August 15th has brought some satisfaction and, above all, a boost to hoteliers and beach resorts. Of course, a few good days aren't enough to make up for a season where Italian tourists have "disappeared" due to uncertainty and the high cost of living, and the only bright spot is the increase in foreign tourists. However, many see the glass "half full," and there's a feeling that there will be plenty of tourists in the two weeks following August 15th as well.
Andrea Falzaresi , owner of the Club Family Hotel chain, which has fifteen resorts and hotels on the Riviera, including the Tosi Beach and the Serenissima, the largest in Cesenatico , is optimistic: "We've filled all our rooms, but with great effort and selling until the very last few days, something that hadn't happened in past years, when we'd already booked everything by the end of July or August. The booking window has therefore widened, and this is a good sign, even if we'll be able to work well until the end."
Outdoor tourism has seen significant growth in recent seasons, and Terzo Martinetti , owner of Cesenatico Camping Village and Pineta sul Mare, has sold out almost all of his more than 1,000 sites, including mobile homes and camper and caravan pitches: "We're working flat out until August 30th, with 96-97 percent occupancy, and with last-minute bookings, we'll be completely sold out . We're in line with last August in terms of occupancy and revenue, but promotional and event costs are increasing. Our clientele is predominantly Italian, with significant numbers of foreigners, primarily Polish, Czech, and French, as well as German, Austrian, Swiss, and Dutch."
In Valverde, entrepreneur Michela Onofri of the historic Bahama beach resort has her finger on the pulse of this beach: "During the Ferragosto holiday, the umbrellas and loungers are full, but the decline in consumption is increasingly pronounced, because the average Italian is treating themselves to fewer restaurants and aperitifs. We'll be working at full capacity in the coming weeks, too, but vacation times have shortened; in my opinion, there's a lot of work to be done on Romagna's offerings to maintain value for money. Despite the uncertainties, I've always invested part of my profits in the business every year, and this has paid off."
In Villamarina, hotelier Adamo Guidi of the Hotel Imperiale is expecting a slow August but a good mid-August: "We still have a few rooms available and we're hoping to fill them at the last minute because there's demand; so far, August has been down 15-20 percent, mid-August is going well, and the following days are also busy. There are few Italian tourists and they're only requesting a few days, while we've had a lot of requests from foreigners starting August 18th, which will allow us to operate well until the end of the month and even into September."
It concludes Virginia Manuzzi of the Hotel Flamingo in Gatteo a Mare, which is experiencing a good period, analyses: "We're sold out during the Ferragosto holiday, with a loyal clientele, and the service we provide is making the difference. Bookings in August are up compared to last year, and this is due to foreign visitors, although these days we mainly host families of Italian tourists. The new events we host are very popular."
